Violence Threat Investigated

Wapato School District administrators are investigating an unsubstantiated threat of violence referencing Wapato High School.  District leaders learned about this issue shortly after school let out this afternoon (5/7/19).  The District immediately contacted law enforcement and has been coordinating with them.  As of this evening (5/7/19) law enforcement has not been able to find any evidence to substantiate the report.  However, out of an abundance of caution the District has arranged for extra security to be in place on Wednesday (5/8/19).  The District obviously takes any mention of violence very seriously and takes measures to provide the safest learning environment as possible.  We encourage any of our stakeholders (staff, students, parents/guardians, community members, etc.) who become aware of any situation that threatens the safety of our students and staff to say something.  You can contact the District at 509-877-4181, make a report to law enforcement or call 9-1-1.
