A 2022 Wapato High School graduate is receiving state recognition for her academic success. The State’s Migrant Education Program (MEP) selected Luz Arroyo Correa as the High Achieving Migrant Student of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year.
MEP Assistant Director Sylvia Reyna says Luz’s determination to overcome obstacle and reach educational goals is a model for others.
Luz says the concept of having to work for what she wants and to stay motivated to accomplish greater things was embedded in her from a young age. She adds her parents have always inspired her to achieve greater things.
As the recipient of the High Achieving Migrant Student of the Year Luz is receiving a plaque from the Migrant Education Program and $1,000 award from Sea Mar Community Health Centers. She will also be recognized August 18, 2022 during the annual State Migrant Education Program Conference.
