The generous, annual donation of school supplies from the Ellena and Roger Knobel family continued again this year. Every year, for the past several years, Ellena and Roger show up at Camas Elementary with their car stuffed full of supplies. This year was no different except for the fact one of their nephews joined them to make the delivery. Boxes filled to the brim with notebooks, crayons, pencils, Elmer’s Glue and more are unloaded and made ready for our students in need. This gracious donation is made in memory of Ellena’s parents, Iris and Lorence Heikell who were educators in the Wapato District for years. Lorence Heikell was a teacher and principal of Wapato Elementary School for 36 years. Iris taught in Wapato, White Swan, Parker and Yakima. The donations come from the Knobels, their children, their extended family, friends and for the past few years Ellena’s classmates from the Wapato High School Class of 1956. Camas Elementary and the Wapato School District cannot thank the Knobels, their family and the class of 1956 enough for their generosity.
