Modified Lockdown On 10/23/18

All Wapato School District buildings operated under a modified lockdown for about an hour-and-20-minutes this morning (10/23/18).  The District was advised by law enforcement to go into the modified lockdown as officers responded to the report of a situation that was said to have taken place in town near the Wapato City Hall building.  As is the case with these types of events, the District and law enforcement remained in regular contact throughout the duration and law enforcement continued to advise the District to remain in a modified lockdown mode as it worked through its investigation.  The modified lockdown started at about 9:50 a.m. and it was lifted around 11:10 a.m.  However, out of an abundance of caution, even after the modified lockdown was lifted the District limited outside student activities for the remainder of the school day.

Just as a reminder, during a school lockdown of any kind in the District, the buildings are secured and no one is allowed to come or go, however during a modified lockdown teaching is still taking place in the schools.  We appreciate the understanding of our families during these events as they are needed to keep all students and staff safe.
