The Wapato School District administers a variety of assessments to our students throughout the school year. The results of each provide important data that shapes various educational decisions and strategies. For students in grades 10-12, these assessments play a pivotal role in fulfilling graduation requirements. For students in grades K-12, our annual benchmark tests gather data on our school programs, ensuring that the district is using our resources wisely and making sure that all students get the supports they need to succeed. Multilingual students from K-12 undergo annual screening and progress monitoring testing for bilingual program placements, ensuring they receive the language development support they need.   Below are a list of assessments administered to Wapato School District students through out the school year

 

 

OSPI School Report Card

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) School Report Card provides comprehensive data on the Wapato School District. This online resource offers valuable information on a range of indicators such as student demographics, test scores, graduation rates, and teacher qualifications. The aim is to provide parents, educators, and stakeholders with insights into the performance and resources of the school district to support informed decision-making. WaKIDS

The Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS) is a holistic assessment administered to kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students in Washington State. It focuses on six developmental domains, including literacy and math, to help teachers, parents, and schools understand the skills and needs of children as they enter kindergarten. WIDA

The World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) is used to measure the English language proficiency of K-12 students in various U.S. states and territories. It assesses listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and is particularly geared towards students who are English Language Learners (ELLs). The WIDA is usually administered annually to help schools comply with federal laws and to guide language instruction. More Info on WIDA

Smarter Balanced

Smarter Balanced is a comprehensive assessment system that tests students in grades 3-8 and 10-11 in English Language Arts and Mathematics. This is a computer-adaptive test that adapts in difficulty based on student responses, providing a more precise measure of their skills. The assessment is given in the spring and aims to evaluate student preparedness for college and careers. Additionally, passing the Smarter Balanced exam in grades 10-11 is one of the graduation requirements for Washington State.  More Info on Smarter Balanced

WCAS

The Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) is administered to students in grades 5, 8, and 11 in the state of Washington. This assessment focuses on evaluating students' understanding and application of scientific concepts and practices. Conducted in the spring, the WCAS aims to ensure that students meet state learning standards in science and provides data to schools for curriculum improvement. More Info on WCAS

Galileo (Imagine Learning)

The Galileo assessment by Imagine Learning is a computer-based diagnostic tool that serves grades K-12. This test is given three times a year with two different assessment topics - English/Language Arts and Math - and is used to track student growth on those topics as part of the district’s federal and state program requirements. DIBELS

The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) is a set of assessments used for evaluating literacy skills in students in grades K-2. It measures various aspects of literacy such as phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, and fluency. The DIBELS assessment is administered at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year and helps educators identify students who may need additional instructional support in reading.
