The Summer Learning Program is open to students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, based on district-defined eligibility criteria, with priority given to students who would benefit most from additional academic support. If your student is eligible, you will receive direct communication from the school or district. -
The program is scheduled to begin on June 26, 2027 and will run through July 24, 2026. There will be no program on July 3, 2026 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. A detailed calendar will be shared with enrolled families. -
The program will run daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This includes dedicated time for both academic instruction and enrichment activities. -
The Summer Learning Program will be held at Wapato High School. -
Yes. The district will provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to students participating in the program. -
Yes. Transportation will be provided for eligible students. Specific bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times will be shared with families prior to the start of the program. -
Classes will be taught by certificated district teachers and supported by trained Para Professionals. Staff are selected based on experience and their ability to support student learning in a summer setting. -
Yes. The program will include Dual Language classroom options to support students in both English and Spanish, consistent with the district’s Dual Language model, in grades K, 1, and 2. -
Enrichment refers to hands-on, engaging learning experiences that complement academic instruction. These may include activities such as STEM projects, art, physical activity, theatre, and collaborative learning experiences designed to build student engagement and skills beyond core academics. -
Students are required to attend the 90 minutes of Language Arts instruction and 90 minutes of Math instruction. Enrichment activities are an optional part of the daily program. These activities are intentionally designed to support student engagement, attendance, and overall learning, and are considered an essential component of the program. -
